The masque of the Red Death question

1 January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849

2. Poe was left an orphan at the age of 3 when he was adopted by a childless man named Allan. I think the fact he was left at such a young age had to have an influence on his life. He also wasn't very successful in college or the military. All of these factors plus his drug abuse had an influence on his writing.A childhood event that influenced Edgar Allan Poe's writing is his mothers death.

3. Poe died in at Washington College Hospital in Baltimore, MD, on October 7, 1849. There is some disagreement about the cause of death; some attribute it to delirium tremens, others to heart disease, epilepsy, syphilis, meningeal inflammation, cholera, even rabies. The true cause will probably never be known.
4. Edgar Allan Poe thought of himself as a Richmonder, a true southern gentleman; therefore he considered Virginia his home This is not surprising since he grew up mostly in Virginia and worked there as well for some time.
Poe considered himself a Virginian from Richmond. He thought of himself as a southern gentleman
.
5. The Edgar Allan Poe Society acknowledges that Poe personally most considered Virginia as his home; however it considers Baltimore as the place that truly defines Edgar Allan Poe both from the perspective of his life and his work

6. The US Military Academy at West Point

7. I think it went bad because his wife basically cheated on him when he was away.
8. It was scary and creepy.
9. The Murders in the Rue Morgue" is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe published in Graham's Magazine in 1841. It has been claimed as the first detective story;[1][2] Poe referred to it as one of his "tales of ratiocination".[1] Similar works predate Poe's stories, including Das Fräulein von Scuderi (1819) by E.T.A. Hoffmann[3] and Zadig (1748) by Voltaire.[4]
10. 1843
11. 1845
12.The Black Cat

The Masque of the Red Death

When I read the short story, there were many colored rooms in this story. In each room, the windows were of stained glass whose “color varied in accordance with the prevailing hue of the decorations of the chamber into which it opened.” They were painted blue, red, violet, green, orange, white and black. Among the colors, there were some colors that were perfect and relate me. Some of color’s names are blue, green and white. They are relating and help my life. Blue gives a person courage and challenge, green means natural and wisdom, and white is good will and it is not villain.
The colors are symbolizing the progression of life and the clock of life. Black and white are colors, but they are different. Black means darkness and sadness. When I get into white clothes, it make me happy and makes me feel better. My favorite color is blue, because it reminds me of courage and give success.
Last, green means natural and relating to the environment. Discover or rediscover this updated edition the wealth of information in the classic on green nutrition. Perfect for anyone – raw foodists, vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters alike who wishes to develop a healthy diet without making sacrifces to taste or lifestyle.

Cyber-Bullying space

Whether it's creating a fake Facebook or MySpace page to impersonate a fellow student, repeatedly sending hurtful text messages and images, or posting cruel comments on the Internet, cyberbullying can have a devastating effect. Nasty comments, lies, embarrassing photos and videos, and snide polls can be spread widely through instant messaging (IM) or phone texting, and by posts on social networking sites. It can happen anytime -- at school or home -- and can involve large groups of kids. The combination of the boldness created by being anonymous and the desire to be seen as “cool” can cause a kid who normally wouldn’t say anything mean face-to-face to show off for other kids. And because it's happening in cyberspace, it's almost always completely undetectable by parents and teachers.

Nothing crushes kids’ self-confidence faster than humiliation. And just imagine a public humiliation sent instantly to everyone they know. Sadly, hurtful information posted on the Internet is extremely difficult to prevent or remove, and millions of people can see it. Most cyberbullying happens when adults aren’t around, so parents and teachers often see only the depression or anxiety that results from being hurt or bullied. This emotional damage can last a lifetime.

Cyber-bullying

A student is bombarded by anonymous threatening and taunting emails at home, even though there is no direct harassment at school. The victim has no idea who is sending the messages and starts to feel like everybody is against them. That student is being cyberbullied.
A school bulletin board is spammed with name-calling posts that spread vicious rumors about a specific student. The rumors aren’t true but kids at school see the posts and believe them. The student is then ostracized by peers. This student is the victim of cyberbullying.
A nasty fake profile is posted at a social networking site using a student’s real name, photo, and contact information. That student starts getting weird email messages from strangers who think the profile is real. Some of the messages are crude. Some of the messages are mean. This is another example of cyberbullying.
These are just a few examples of cyberbullying. If you are taking part in things like this it is not harmless fun. You are being a cyberbully. If you are the victim of this type of treatment you are being cyberbullied and there are things you can do to stop the harassment.

Hypochondriasis

Sometimes, some peoples are preoccupation or worry about friend and family. It is call hypochondria or hypochondria.
Hypochondriasis is referring to excessive preoccupation or worry about having a serious illness. Hypochondria persist even after a physician has evaluated a person and reassured them that their concerns about symptoms do not have an underlying medical basis or, if there is a medical illness and it give serious and damage to a person. A person with hypochondria continues thinking he is poisonous ill despite appropriate medical evaluations and reassurances that his health is fine.
A person with hypochondria will think such normal bodily functions as heart beats, sweating and bowel movements are symptoms of a serious illness or condition.
Even minor abnormalities, such as a runny nose, slightly swollen lymph nodes and a small sore are seen as symptoms of something really serious. A person with hypochondria may also use vague phrases - he may say he has tired veins or a sore liver. It is not uncommon for people with hypochondria to focus on one particular organ, such as the lungs, or just one disease, such as cancer. Even after tests come back negative, their anxiety continues to be high and their desire for more physical attention grows.
We are not sure how many people suffer from hypochondria. A sufferer usually sees his primary care physician (General Practitioner), rather a mental health care professional - hence, a diagnosis of hypochondria is often not made. It is estimated that between 0.8% and 8.5% of the US adult population suffers from hypochondria. Approximately the same number of men and women suffer from hypochondria.

Technology affects society in many ways. While technology has helped civilizations advance, it has also created new problems. The advancements in computer technology in the late 20th century greatly changed the way we live. The development of the Internet and the invention of the World Wide Web allowed instant communication and access to information from around the world. However, unlimited and uncontrolled online access also raised many concerns and created the need for new laws and regulations. Educators and parents worry about the appropriateness of the content children can access on the Internet.
New technologies have been developed to help teachers curb the rampant plagiarism and other cheating the Internet has fostered. The popularity of social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace have raised new fears about child predators, loss of privacy, and cyberbullies. In addition, advancements in computer technology have opened up a whole new arena for criminal activity.
Cybercrimes include identity theft, child pornography, hacking, and copyright infringement. After the 2001 terror attacks in the United States, security officials grew more concerned about the threat of cyberterrorism and continue to focus on ways to safeguard our information systems.

Dear Val

Dear Val,
Hello, my name is Kelly. I’m a freshman in the John Carroll School. I’m Korean and stayed in Canada for 2 years and transferred from Canada to the United States. I live in Bel  Air, Maryland. When I was reading   this book, it was really sad and I enjoyed in Hate List by Jennifer Brown. The Hate List told about your life story, violence, and the list.
You always wrote a person’s name when you hate a person. I want to follow your act because I hate a person, sometimes. I don’t like Christy because she was annoying you and calling you nickname, Sister Death. She broke your mp3 in the bus. If she broke your mp3, I’m really going to give her what-for. Anyway, are you and your leg okay? I heard that you injured your leg by a robber that shot your leg. I’m worried about your leg but your leg is healed now.
I heard the news that Nick died. He killed everybody and hit Christy because of the list you helped create. You both made a list of people and things you hated. Nick used the list to pick his targets and killed people and now he is dead. I heard news that you made- up with Jessica. I think Jessica wants to make friends with you.
After I read this book, I learned about friends and family. I hoped you will be happy. Bye
